About Us
RYSS Early Childhood Academy at Leonel Castillo Community Center is a public charter school located within the Leonel Castillo Community Center in Houston's Near Northside. Since opening its doors in the 2021–2022 school year, the academy has been committed to providing a strong educational foundation for young learners. The campus initially served students in Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4, with Kindergarten added in the 2022–2023 school year.

Our state-approved curriculum emphasizes early literacy and mathematics while integrating hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. In addition to academic excellence, Castillo places a strong emphasis on social-emotional learning, helping students develop self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and the interpersonal skills needed to become confident, responsible, and successful members of their communities.
